Here are our recommendations to duplicate your “iOS app rating” campaign from Accengage to Airship.
Accengage
On the Accengage UI, this type of campaign was set up with the below steps :
-
Use of a popup in-app message format
-
Use of redirection on the App Store
-
Target users having a specific app version
Airship
Technical Requirements
-
Be sure to have the Airship app extension in your application. You will need it to use the app rating action.
-
iOS requires that you provide your app’s Apple ID. In the Go dashboard, go to the menu Settings » Configuration » iTunes ID, enter the Apple ID, then click Save. The ID is needed to redirect the user directly to your application in the App Store.
Steps
Click on the “create” button in your project, to start your campaign.

We recommend displaying an internal message when the user opens the application. To do this, select “In-App Automation”.

Select the Modal style as it is the most impactful format for this type of campaign.

Select the Layout of your in-app message. We recommend the “Header | Media | Body” for best results.

On the Settings page, you will be able to specify some options, such as the priority of your message among all activated in-apps, and the number of times the message will show.
Apple limits app rating dialogues display to three times in a 365-day period. You can adapt your settings to limit the number of times the message will repeat.

In the Audience section, you will have the possibility to target either all your users or specific ones.
As the app rating campaign regards a specific app version, we recommend selecting “Target Specific Users” and choose the “app version” criteria.
If you need to aim only at users owning a particular build version such as the latest one, pick the “is equal to” operator and inform the appropriate version.

Within the next section, you will want to inform the content of your app-rating campaign.
Please note that two buttons maximum can be implemented for the “modal style”.

When you are happy with the content, click on “Actions” to set up the buttons.
For the Rate button, select the “App rating” action.
Please note that iOS generates the dialogue and the app store links automatically based on the iTunes ID already registered in your Airship project, so no configuration is required.
The optional Title and Body are displayed on iOS versions 10 and lower.

On the next page, you can customize the Background, the Text, and the Buttons designs.
In the Behavior section, choose what will trigger the message. For example, you can set the campaign to trigger as soon as your users open your app 3 times, or when they get to a specific page of your application.

Please note that once your message activated, you will not be able to modify your triggers.
If you need to update the trigger, we recommend pausing the automation, duplicate it and proceed with modification.
Finally, check the automation you created before you activating it, within the Review section.
Click on Finish once you are pleased with your campaign, to activate it.
